Grand Prairie, TX Bedbugs, Fleas & Ticks - Bed bugs are six legged parasitic pests that suck human and pet blood. Their size is around 1/4 of an inch with an oval flat shape. Their size is comparable to an apple seed. The upper area of their body has gold shaded hair, antennae and cone like eyes. The bottom portion of their own bodies is wrinkly similar to crinkled paper. Bed bugs are not able to fly however they can crawl very fast. They grow and multiply within a temperature range of 70 degrees around 80 degrees. A new bedbug, is called a nymph, they are clear in color and changes into a red color after eating. To achieve adulthood, a nymph bed bug must shed its skin about 5 times. A normal female can lay 5 up to 7 eggs weekly and may produce as much as 500 eggs throughout its life expectancy of 12 months to 18 months. The eggs will hatch out within 6 to 17 days when they become known as nymphs. Bed Bug eggs are resistant to bug sprays. Bedbugs hide in beds, carpeting and rugs, quilts, clothes, underneath wallpaper, under rags, between curtain folds, behind wall decors and behind wooden home furniture. They love to attack in the evening and they will remain active until before daybreak. Bed bugs bite uncovered skin of a person sleeping in an infested bed and leave reddish colored itchy dots. They just don't wander off from sleeping and relaxing areas but they manage to travel over 100 ft during the night to search for food.
