Irving, TX Bedbugs, Fleas & Ticks - Bed bugs are six legged parasitic creatures that suck human and animal blood. Their length is approximately 1/4 inch with an oblong flat form. Their size resembles an apple seed. The top portion of their body has gold shaded hair, antennae and cone like eyes. The bottom portion of their own bodies is wrinkly similar to crinkled paper. Bedbugs can't fly but they can crawl quickly. They develop and multiply in the temperature range of 70 degrees up to 80 degrees. A bedbug, is referred to as a nymph, they are see-through in color and changes into a red color after feeding. To succeed in adulthood, a nymph bed bug has to shed its skin about 5 times. A normal female can lay 5 up to 7 eggs each week and will produce around five-hundred eggs throughout its life span of 12 months to eighteen months. The eggs will hatch within 6 to 17 days when they become known as nymphs. Bed Bug eggs are resistant to pesticides or herbicides. Bed bugs hide in bedding, carpets and rugs, bedsheets, clothing, underneath wallpaper, under rags, between window curtain folds, behind wall decors and behind wood furnishings. They love to strike at night and they will remain active right up until before daybreak. Bed bugs bite uncovered skin of a person sleeping in an infested bed and then leave reddish scratchy bites. They don't wander away from sleeping and lounging areas nonetheless they have the ability to travel over 100 ft at night time to search for meals.
