Denton, TX Bedbugs, Fleas & Ticks - Bed bugs are six legged parasitic insects that draw human and dog blood. Their length is about 1/4 of an inch with an oblong flat shape. Their size is comparable to an apple seed. The upper portion of their bodies has gold colored hair, antennae and cone like eyes. The bottom area of their own bodies is wrinkly just like crinkled paper. Bed bugs cannot fly however they can crawl quickly. They will grow and multiply in the temperature range of 70 degrees as much as 80 degrees. A little bed bug, is known as a nymph, they are clear in color and changes into a red color after eating. To succeed in adulthood, a nymph bed bug should shed its skin approximately 5 times. A typical female can lay five to seven eggs each week and may produce up to five-hundred eggs throughout its life of 12 months to 18 months. The eggs will hatch out within 6 to 17 days when they become known as nymphs. Bed Bug eggs are resistant to pesticides or herbicides. Bedbugs hide in beds, carpeting, blankets, clothing, underneath wallpaper, under towels, between window curtain folds, behind wall decors and behind wood furniture. They like to attack during the night and they will remain active until just before dawn. Bed bugs bite exposed skin of a man or woman in an infested bed and leave red-colored itchy dots.
